Rev. Ronald W. Kronk, 68, of Rochester Twp., went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 23, 2015, having passed at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born June 26, 1947, in Rochester, he was a son of the late Robert G. Sr. and Marian Sue Mauk Kronk. He was a 1965 graduate of Freedom Area High School and a 1970 graduate of Clarion University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He graduated in 1988 from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He was a former teacher at Center Area High School, where he had been a science teacher, baseball and basketball coach. He was a former pastor of the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church and the Fairview Presbyterian Church, Hillsville, VA, until his retirement. Pastor Ron, upon returning to Beaver County, became a parish associate with the Vanport Presbyterian Church while also serving as the interim pastor of the Freedom Presbyterian Church. He was on the board of the American Heart Association. Ron was an avid sports fan who especially cheered for the Pitt Panthers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pastor Ron also enjoyed water sports, jet skiing and boating. He was also an Army National Guard veteran during the Vietnam Era. He is survived by his wife, Christine S. (Simpson) Kronk; two daughters and sons-in-law, Courtney L. and Cory Kronk-Love, Baden and Ashley M. and Joseph Vorderbrueggen, Dayton, OH; two grandchildren, Matt and Alaina Vorderbrueggen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert G. and Edith Kronk, II, New Sewickley Twp. and James D. and Kim Kronk, Freedom; two sisters-in-law, Deborah Johnston and her husband, John, Bemus Point, NY and Laurel Machovec and her husband, Wil, Maryland; a brother-in-law, Richard S. Simpson and his wife, Cheryl, East Berlin, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 3 to 8 pm. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Vanport Presbyterian Church. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. Officiating will be Rev. David Byers. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Fairview Presbyterian Church, 15 Fairview Lane, Hillsville, VA 24343 or to a pirate's charity or Pitt Panthers Boosters.
