    Ronald E. Headland

    March 2, 1930 - September 13, 2017

    Ronald E. Headland, 87 of Rochester Twp., passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017, in Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Brighton Twp. Born March 2, 1930, in Rochester Twp., a son of the late Lewis H. and Ruth Leonberg Headland, he was a retired employee of Armco Corporation, Ambridge, for 38 years. He was a member of Faith Community United Methodist Church, Rochester, and a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in California and present during the testing of the atomic bomb. Ronald was a former Rochester Little League and Pony League coach and was a former local, state, and national member of the Big Knob Grange. He was a member of the Monaca American Legion Post 580 and a former bus driver with the Rhodes Transit Company. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Alberta M. Revay Headland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and Gregg Braund, Rochester and Brenda and Brian Eppinger, Crofton, Maryland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Leanne Headland, Frederick, Md., and Larry and Ida Headland, Rochester; nine grandchildren, Bryan Braund and his wife Amy, Brittany Stevens and her husband Andrew, Aaron, Daniel and David Eppinger, Sarah, Matthew and Eric Headland, and Jennifer Crawford and her wife Dawn; five great-grandchildren, Bailey Braund, Grayson Stevens, and Connor, Dylan, and Addison Quinn; one brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" and Cathy Headland, Rochester Twp; his canine companion, Ruby; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded him in death are one son, Robin M. Headland; one grandson, Justin Headland; and two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joann and Robert Smith, and Faye and Warren Ruckert. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester, where a service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Donald Dotterer. Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Beaver County Cancer and Heart Association, 3582 Brodhead Road, Suite 201, Monaca, PA 15061 or Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Rd., Aliquippa, PA 15001. The Beaver County Special Unit will provide full military honors Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
