Robert D. Smith Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert D. Smith, Sr., 79, of Rochester Twp., passed away February 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 16, 1943 in New Brighton, he was the son of the late William P. and Eleanor McClune Smith. He was the retired owner of the R.D. Smith Plumbing and also retired from the B&W Corporation, Ambridge. He was a member of the St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Rochester. He was a member of the Rochester Owls Nest, the Rochester Turners, the Rochester BPOE #283, and the Rochester VFW Post #128. His love was his family and his work. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Josephine C. Dioguardi Smith. He is also survived by two daughters and sons in law, Sherri A. and Patrick Todd Wilks, Rochester Twp., and Renee D. and Bruce Herstine, Vanport; one son and daughter in law, Robert D. Jr. and Paula Smith, Rochester Twp.; seven grandchildren, John Hamilton, Nicholas Wilks, Christian and Ben Herstine, Tyler Mannion, and Samantha and Sabrina Smith; four great grandchildren, Lily, Leah, Avery and Miles; two brothers, James Smith, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Douglas J. Smith, Patterson Twp., and his canine companion, Chloe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by one brother, Donald Paul Smith. His wish was to be cremated with no visitation, however friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 10 am in the St. Cecilia R.C. Church, Rochester Twp. Inurnment will be in Beaver Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC. 349 Adams Street, Rochester. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001. The family wishes to thank Michelle Dobson and the other aides for their exceptional care and comfort given to Rob over the past years.
