Mary Jane Shafer

February 22, 1927 - September 20, 2021

Mary Jane Shafer, 94, of Rochester Twp., passed away September 20, 2021 at Beaver Meadows. Born February 22, 1927 in Conway, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Cottage Micheletti. She was a house wife and home maker, and volunteered with the former Rochester Hospital Hospitality Shop. She was a member of St. Cecilia R.C. Church, Rochester, Our Lady of the Valley Parish, where she was a Christian Mother, and belonged to the St. Cecilia Parent Teacher’s Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis R. Shafer, Jr. in 2014. She was also preceded in death by four children, Cheryl, Karen, and Lewis Shafer, and Susan Bostanic; two brothers, George and Frank Micheletti, and a sister, Elizabeth Fernandez. She is survived by one daughter and son in law, Pamela and James Barnes; three sons and daughters in law, Jeffrey and Beth Shafer, David and Cindy Shafer, and Douglas and Karen Shafer; sixteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; a son in law, George Bostanic; a brother in law, Francis Fernandez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 3 pm – 7 pm in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC. 349 Adams Street, Rochester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 AM in St. Cecilia R.C. Church Rochester. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery. A Wake Service will be Wednesday at 3:30 PM in the Funeral Home.
