Karen L. Wylie Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Karen L. (Mengel) Wylie, 80, of New Sewickley Twp., passed away unexpectedly with her family by her side on January 8, 2022. Born February 26, 1941 in New Sewickley Twp., the oldest of four children, to the late Abraham Mengel and the late Marguerite Holton Mengel Temple. Karen was a long time member of the American Legion Post 512, Unionville Auxiliary, where she enjoyed organizing the children’s Annual Christmas Party, helping out with the Turkey Shoots, and Toys for Tots Benefit Band Nights. Karen looked forward to visiting with old friends at the Big Knob Grange Fair and was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church, Economy Borough. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce L. Griffin, a granddaughter, Desiree Caye, and a sister Darla Cutchall. Karen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Henry James “Jim” Wylie. Also surviving are three sons and daughters in law, Michael Wylie and his wife, Kimberly Conneautville, PA, Keith Wylie and his wife, Cheryl, and Brian Wylie and his wife, Rebekah, all of New Sewickley Twp.; a son in law, Martin “Leo” Griffin, and his wife, Terry, Phoenix, AZ.; seven grandchildren, Joshua Wylie and his wife, Ashley, Cody Wylie, Lauran Wylie, Scott Smith and his wife, Darcie, Thomas Smith and his wife, Brittany, Kasey Zerbe, and her husband, Anthony, and Deanna Miller, and her husband, Brett; three great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Mengel, New Castle; a sister, Elaine Chalupiak and her husband, Joe, Economy Boro; a step brother, Jim Temple, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 3pm – 7pm in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC. 349 Adams Street, Rochester, where a service will be held Thursday, at 11 am. Officiating will be a beloved family friend, Rev. Scott W. McMahon. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom. Memorial contributions can go to charity of choice.
