    Joy L. Gaertner

    December 24, 1931 - December 28, 2019

    Joy Louise Stablow Gaertner, 88, of Libertyville, IL, died Saturday, December 28, 2019. She was the loving mother of five children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Born in Rochester PA, Joy was the daughter of the late Francis B. Sr. and Mary Louise Christian Stablow. She was a graduate of Rochester High School and Duquesne University. She worked for over 30 years as an office manager and bookkeeper. She resided most of her life in New Jersey, raising her children in the town of River Vale. Joy’s life revolved around her family. Joy and her young children made annual summer trips to Rochester to spend time with family and friends. Later, Joy organized annual family get-togethers for a week each summer in the mountains or at the shore with her children and their families. Joy was preceded in death by her son David; her daughter Susan “Sue” (Tim) Gunther; and their father Paul Gaertner. Joy was also preceded in death by her brothers John “Jack” Stablow and Francis “Sonny” B. Stablow Jr; and her sisters Mary C. Stablow and Alice Rebich. Joy is survived by her son Joseph “Joe” of Lafayette, CO; her daughter Ann (Scott) MacLean of Freehold, NJ, and their children, Ian (Juli), Logan, and Matthew (Danielle); her son John Gerald “Jerry” (Michelle) of Libertyville, IL, and their children, Hannah and Karl. Also surviving are Sue and Tim’s children, Jeffrey “Jeff” (Katie) and their daughter, Sydney; Clifford “Cliff”; Kelsey (Rich) and their children, Ethan and Liana; and Tricia. Joy is also survived by her brother Thomas Stablow; and her two sisters Joanne Stablow and Kiley McCoy, all of Rochester, PA. Friends will be received Sunday, 5-8 PM in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC. 349 ADAMS STREET, ROCHESTER, PA 15074 where a Blessing Service will be held Monday, 11 AM. Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Daugherty Twp.
