    Joseph J. Hogan

    March 24, 1931 - March 4, 2017

    Joseph J. Hogan, 85, of the Zelienople Passavant Retirement Community, formerly of Gulbranson Heights, New Brighton, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born March 24, 1931, in Rochester, a son of the late Joseph and Katherine Kraus Hogan, he was a retired employee with Local 66 Operating Engineers and was a charter member of the Operating Engineers Credit Union. He was a former real estate agent with All County Realty. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Catholic by faith, he loved working with his hands especially in woodcraft making gifts for people. Surviving are his wife, Donna M. Cook Hogan; a son, Joseph M. Hogan and his companion Kate Clayton, Los Altos Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren, Tyler Hogan and wife Kira, New Hampshire; Jason Hogan and his wife Trynn, Montana; Nicolas Hogan, Massachusetts; Jamie Corsi Burna and her husband Ben, New Jersey, and Michael Corsi and his wife Ivonne, Texas; two great-grandchildren, William and Penny Burna; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin T. and Verna Hogan, Rochester; a sister-in-law, Anna C. Hogan, Rochester, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Corsi; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pat and John Swartzwelder, and Eileen Hogan, and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kenneth and Carol Hogan, and Regis Hogan. Friends will be received Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:15 a.m. in the Seaman Memorial Chapel, Zelienople Passavant Retirement Community Center. The Rev. Will Goetze will officiate. Private inurnment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. The family wishes memorial contributions be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851. The WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester, is in charge of arrangements.
