Surrounded by her family, Shirley Jeanne Stauffer, 85, passed peacefully into grace on January 11, 2021. Born in Pittsburgh on May 20, 1935 she was the youngest daughter of James and Elizabeth Herzog. After earning her GED from New Brighton High School, she went to business school in Beaver Falls to earn a business certificate and also studied custom tailoring which made the clothes she sewed for her family look custom made. She was married in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and remained active there for many years. An independent woman in an era before it was really the norm, she became a real estate agent for Northwood Realty and ultimately a mortgage loan originator for PNC Bank. An avid student of history, particularly the Civil War, she often visited her favorite sites to “see it for herself”. Family members were often gifted with slippers, doilies and afghans from crochet hooks and knitting needles Her collection of vintage Grand Ole Opry autographs and photos was the product of the love of country music she shared with her sister and in her youth they travelled to see many local and famous performers. Coffee and cigarettes fueled many a ruthless card game played until the wee hours of the morning. In her later years, her passion became genealogy and tracing her family roots. She was predeceased by her brother, WWII veteran Clifford Herzog, and her sisters, Eleanor Trimble and Virginia Herzog. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Tony Carrozza, her son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Lori Stauffer, 5 grandchildren: Christopher and Jeffrey Pizolato, Brooke Kiefer, and Jacob and Bethany Stauffer, and 7 great-grandchildren: Kira, Alex and Eliza Pizolato and Persephone, Orion, Chiron and Artemis Kiefer, and several nieces and nephews. A private service was held graveside at Beaver Cemetery but anyone wishing to celebrate her life would be welcome to make a contribution to Grace Lutheran Church, 393 Adams Street, Rochester, PA. Arrangements were handled by the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC. 349 Adams Street, Rochester.
