Jane Gremer Palmer May, a resident of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry, formerly of Beaver and Rochester, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017, in Sherwood Oaks. Born May 7, 1922, in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late George C. and Julia Halpin Gremer. For many years, Jane belonged to SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver, where she was a member of the Marian Guild. More recently, she had attended St. Ferdinand Catholic Parish, Cranberry. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Potter Palmer, in 1973; her second husband, Charles S. May, in 2012; her daughter, Brenda Jane Murray, in 2013; her brothers, George M. Gremer and John A. Gremer; a sister, Julia Kerstetter, and a stepdaughter, Karen May McConnaughy. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James G. and Lois Palmer, Ellicott City, Md.; Timothy T. and Ann Vileisis Palmer, Port Orford, Oreg.; a daughter and two sons-in-law, Becky Elizabeth Schmitz and her husband, Stephen, Charlottsville, Va.; Boyd S. Murray, Ben Avon. She was dearly loved by her eight grandchildren, David R. Murray, Birmingham, Mich.; Jonathan P. Murray, Cockeysville, Md.; Emily Murray Javadpour, Exton, Pa.; Christine P. Hennigan, West Chester, Pa.; James R. Palmer, West Chester, Pa.; Craig T. Palmer, Woodbine, Md.; Stephen P. Schmitz, Charlottsville, Va.; Jenny E. Schmitz, Nellysford, Va.; two step-grandchildren, Kelley Gray, Cleveland, Ohio and Patricia Megyesi, Maumee, Ohio. Blessings continue with 14 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a beloved sister, Mary Gremer Wohleber, Pittsburgh. Friends will be received Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver. Officiating will be Father Bob Miller. Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery. The family wishes memorial contributions, if desired, to the Angel Fund of SS Peter and Paul School or to the church cemetery fund, 200 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009. The family deeply appreciates the considerate and gentle care given to Jane by Chrissie Bell and all the staff at Sherwood Oaks Retirement Center.
