September 10, 1940 - November 2, 2017
James L. Cable, 77, of East Rochester, Pa., ended his journey in life on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Jim left this world a better place with the positive impact he had on his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend to all. Jim’s journey began when he was born on September 10, 1940, in Center Twp., Pa. He was the son of Byrum and Martha Hill Cable. In 1960, on his birthday, he married the love of his life of 57 years, Janice Draganza Cable. Together they made a family with the addition of their children whom he adored, Christie Cable Finch (Mike) and James A. Cable (Denise), and their beautiful grandchildren, Collin Michael Finch, Anna and Katie Cable, and Benjamin Otterbein. He was also survived by brothers, Barney Cable (Carol) and Gary Cable, and many nieces and nephews. Throughout the years, Jim has lost many family members including sister, Mary Ann Goldinger. But by far, his heart was broken when he lost his grandson, Hayden James Finch. His family is sad to have lost Jim but are at peace to know that Hayden and Jim are forever together. Jim served as the Mayor of East Rochester for the past 12 years, and was a retired East Rochester volunteer fireman. In his retirement, Jim loved to spend time in the mountains in Benezette, Pa., playing golf, happy hours with his friends and fixing things! Not a day went by that friends and family didn’t call on him as their own personal handyman! Please join with family and friends in celebration of Jim’s life and the impact and touch he left on everyone by attending his visitation on Monday, November 6, from 2 to 7 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. A special service will be given immediately following conducted by his friend and pastor, Norman “Cokie” Coville. In lieu of flowers, donations may kindly be made to the VFW Memorial Fund, 179 Virginia Avenue, Rochester, PA 15074. And while he was not a Veteran, their projects were very near and dear to his heart. We are lucky to have had him with us in this world. May God bless him and keep him in His arms until we meet again.
