Geraldine M. “Gerry” Ripper Pearl, 91, of Freedom, entered the Gates of Heaven, January 10, 2021. Gerry was born in Freedom on June 5, 1929 to the late Elder N. and Leona Shellito Ripper. She was a 1947 graduate of Freedom High School, a majorette and 1947 May Queen. Her family and home were most important to her. She served as Den Mother, Assistant Brownie Leader, PTA homeroom mother, Post Prom Committee, Past President of Football Mothers and worked the popcorn stand at the football games. She also loved her community and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, Community Concert and was minority Inspector on her board of elections. She also worked outside the home at the Freedom Casket Company, Mitchell’s Bus Company, The Beaver County Times and the Freedom School Cafeteria. She enjoyed her life camping, bowling, taking trips with her daughter and being outside cutting grass, working in the yard or sitting on her porch. She also loved decorating her yard at Christmas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. “Pappy” Pearl, Jr. in 2002; a brother, Elder N. Ripper II; a daughter in law, Tami Pearl and a step mother, Pearl L. Ripper. She is survived by a daughter, Candis Donawitz and her husband, Danny, New Sewickley Twp.; a son, Brian Pearl and his wife, Cindy, Sunset Beach, N.C.; five grandchildren, Janel Sabatino and fiancée, Kevin Purdy, Bridgewater, MA; Danny Donawitz and his wife, Jessica, New Sewickley Twp.; Brian R. Pearl, Lisbon, OH; Drew Garrod and his wife, Autumn, Oswego, NY; Derek Garrod and his wife, Jena, Columbus, Ohio; and ten great grandchildren, Tanner Pearl, Columbiana, OH; Danielle, Wyatt, and Walker Donawitz all of New Sewickley Twp. and Zanthias, Zaphira, Zaviar, Jamin, Arielle, and Talia Garrod. Friends will be received to visit with the family on Friday, January 15, 2020 from 4-7 PM in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC. 349 Adams Street, Rochester, with the service following at 7:15 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Doug Myers, Unionville United Methodist Church. Private Inurnment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom. In lieu of flowers the family suggests monetary gifts be given to the Unionville United Methodist Church, 1297 Rt. 68, Rochester, PA 15074 or the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15010. The family would like to thank the staff of Cambridge Village Personal Care Home, where she had resided for almost two years, and a special thanks to Belva, Sandra, and Samantha, and we also wish to thank the staff at Concordia Franklin Park where she resided for the last two months.
