    SSgt. Dylan James Elchin

    June 11, 1993 - November 27, 2018

    Staff Sgt. Dylan James Elchin, 25, of Clovis, New Mexico, where he was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, and was formerly of Beaver and Hookstown, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018, in Andar District of the Ghazni Province of Afghanistan. Born June 11, 1993, in Brighton Twp., a son of Dawna Bogolea Elchin Duez, and his stepfather, Loney Duez, Chippewa Twp., and his former stepfather, James J. Bly, Ohio, he was a J. Tac Qualified Combat Controller with the U.S. Air Force serving with the 26th Special Tactics Squadron. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, the Army Commendation With Valor, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Combat Action Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the NATO Medal. He was a 2012 Hopewell High School Graduate, and a former Boy Scout. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancée, Jordan A. Stigers, Las Vegas, Nev.; four brothers, Aaron Elchin, Cincinnati, Ohio; Ryan Elchin, Chippewa; Zachery Bly, Chippewa, and Nick Schlack, Hookstown; a stepsister, Stephanie Duez, Freedom; his maternal grandparents, Ronald and Sandy Bogolea, Freedom; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Duez; paternal great-grandmother, Grace Bell; and his brothers and sisters serving in his unit with the 26th Special Tactics Squadron. Friends are invited to visit with the family Thursday, December 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Impact Christian Chapel (The Landing), 330 Hookstown Grade Rd., Moon Twp., Pa., where a memorial service will occur at 4 p.m. Officiating will be an Air Force Chaplain. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements by the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester.
