Dewite M. Calvin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dewite M. Calvin, 83, of East Rochester, passed away July 31, 2022 at Allegheny Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born January 28, 1939 in New Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence and Genevieve Bargerstock Calvin. He was a retired employee with Teledyne Vasco - Allegheny Technologies, Monaca. He also worked with the Beaver Valley Heat Treating Company of Monaca. He was presently an employee with the William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., Rochester, and Kirk Livery, Pittsburgh. He was a member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Rochester, the former Mayor of East Rochester for 12 years, and Police Chief for a few years, a member of the East Rochester Volunteer Fire Department, and a Rochester little league baseball coach for the 1959 Championship Fireman’s Team. He loved playing softball, and played for the former Fiesta Bar and Armando’s Team of Rochester Twp. Dewite was also an avid hunter and outdoors man. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy A. DeSalle Calvin. He is also survived by a daughter and son in law, Debbie A. and Joseph Sokol of Baden, a son and daughter in law, P.J. and Patti Calvin of Center Twp., three grandchildren, Alan Calvin, Kentucky, Cody Calvin and fiancé, Julia Suehr, Center Twp., and Jake and Jessica Calvin, Freedom; seven great grandchildren, Aiden, Mackson, Tristen, Audriana, Charlotte, Cage and Forest; two sisters, Sarah Lonkert and her husband, Bob, Freedom, and Mary Ann Crile, East Rochester; one brother and sister in law, Richard and Chris Young, Calcutta, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends, especially Lena Stephenson, Ted and Dan Silosky, and Janice Dunn. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John Calvin, Lou Calvin, Clarence Calvin, Jr. and Ralph Young. Friends will be received Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC. 349 Adams Street, Rochester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 AM in the St. Cecilia R.C. Church, Rochester. A Christian Wake service will be held Thursday at 3:30 PM. Interment will be in St. Cecilia R.C.
