Ann M. Silipigni, 96, of East Rochester, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 25, 2016, in her home. Born February 24, 1920, in East Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Ann Palakovich Hodnick. After attending Rochester High School, she worked a variety of jobs before settling down to raise her family. Ann was known for her excellent cooking and was the cook at the Wunder Bar while her son, Frank, owned it. She also worked at Isaly's, Barbara Cable Flowers, and Sheldon's Flowers. Ann was a lifelong member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Parish, Rochester, where she had previously belonged to the Christian Mothers. She cultivated her Croatian heritage as a member of the CFU Lodge #85, where she most recently served as vice-president and was also a member of the Aquila Fedele Lodge #1070 Sons of Italy. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Salvin Suffoletta, in 1947 and her second husband, John P. "Rags" Silipigni, in 2008; her siblings, Adam "Hod" Hodnick, Paul "Babe" and his wife, Mary Hodnick, Dolores Hodnick; brothers-in-law, Joseph Riccardi, John "Jug" Moehrle, Joseph "Peps" Silipigni, Anthony "Logs" Silipigni and Vito Farelli. She is survived by four children, Sally Suffoletta, Rochester; Frank Suffoletta, Las Vegas, NV; Joni Jean Parkinson, and her husband, Keith, Beaver; John V. Silipigni and his wife, Charlene, Crafton; four grandchildren, Dr. Kristen Parkinson Peabody and her husband, Patrick, Beaver; Dr. Jeffrey Suffoletta, and his wife, Crystal, Las Vegas, NV; Erin Parkinson, Beaver; Jovanna Silipigni, Crafton; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Mason Peabody. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Margaret Riccardi, Monaca; Betty Jane Moehrle, Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hodnick Dapolloni and her husband, Joe, Midland; Rose Szurley and her husband, Edward, Rochester Township; JoAnn Farelli, New Brighton; Gloria Silipigni Wheeler, Matthews, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Rochester Township. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held Sunday in the funeral home. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 628 Virginia Ave., Rochester, PA 15074 or to Vitas Hospice, 2009 McKenzie Way, Suite 1010, Cranberry, PA 16066.
