    Ann Hmiel

    December 16, 1925 - February 25, 2017

    Ann Hmiel, 91, of Cranberry Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2017, in the Passavant Retirement and Health Center, Zelienople. Born December 16, 1925, in Beaver Falls, to the late John and Anna Slovak Hornacek, she grew up in West Mayfield and attended Beaver Falls High School. Ann was a longtime resident of Beaver where she attended SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church and was a member and officer of the Rosary Alter Society. She was active in women's auxiliaries for both the former Beaver County Geriatric Center and former Providence Hospital where she had been a volunteer manager of the gift shop until 1980. After relocating from Beaver, she resided in Farmington Hills, Michigan until 2006 before returning to live in Cranberry Twp. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stanley E. Hmiel, in 2005; her sister, Katherine; three brothers, John, Frank and Anthony. Ann is survived by a daughter and son-in -law, Terri A. and Paul Harvey, Rochester; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. S. Paul Hmiel, Ph.D., MD, and his wife, Roberta, St. Louis, Mo.; Tom and Teana Hmiel, Lincoln University, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Stephen, Laura, Brendan, Erin, and Caitlin Hmiel; and Matt Harvey and his wife, Missy, and Zach Harvey and his wife, Karen; numerous nieces, and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Rochester Twp. Officiating will be Father John Harvey of Our Lady of Angels Roman Catholic Church, Lawrenceville. Entombment will be in Beaver Mausoleum. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
