Alice M. Barnes, 87, of New Sewickley Twp. passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, in Heritage Valley Beaver. Born November 4, 1929, in Rochester, a daughter of the late John G. and Hazel E. Ruckert McClure, she was a homemaker. She was a member of New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Economy Borough, where she was a member of the WELCA, the church choir and was a worship assistant and Eucharistic Minister. She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, an avid bowler, and a seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Barnes, Jr., in 2006; a son, David Barnes, in 2004; a daughter, Roberta Barnes, in 2013, and a brother, Gerald McClure, in 2004. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Becky A. and Joseph Breig, Hammonton, N.J.; Mary A. and Dion Greco, New Brighton; Brenda Figueiredo and her significant other, Leon Thomas, Rochester; three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Karen Barnes, Gibstown, N.J.; R. Scott and Nancy Barnes, Rochester; Russell D. and Lori Barnes, New Sewickley Twp.; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Grace Crosby, Vanport; Carol Reid, Philadelphia; Shirley Henley and her husband, Allen, New Sewickley Twp.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Arthur and Diane McClure, Babson Park, Fla.; Larry McClure, Burgettstown; numerous nieces and nephews and her church family also survive. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester, and also on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in the New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Martin Galbraith. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 2nd Ave., Freedom, PA 15042.
